How to Generate Leads from Reddit

Published 2026-06-04 · Updated 2026-09-04 · 2 min read

TL;DR

Reddit lead generation starts with finding conversations where someone has a real problem and is open to advice. Qualify intent and product fit, read the community rules, and respond only when you can add useful context. Do not automate participation or treat every complaint as a sales lead.

Where buying intent appears on Reddit

  • Recommendation requests: “What should we use for this?”
  • Alternative searches: “Vendor A no longer works for us. What should we switch to?”
  • Workflow problems: a person describes a costly or persistent job your product can solve.
  • Comparison threads: buyers are actively evaluating trade-offs between named options.

Select relevant communities before monitoring

Start with communities where your target users discuss the job, workflow, or constraint your product addresses. Category keywords alone are too broad. Read each subreddit’s rules, recent posts, and moderator guidance before participating because communities set their own expectations.

Distinguish complaints from purchase intent

A complaint is not automatically a lead. “This app crashed” may be frustration without a request or willingness to change. “This app keeps crashing and we need an alternative before renewal” combines pain, timing, advice-seeking, and potential switching intent.

  • Strong signal: specific unresolved problem, active request for options, plausible product fit, and a current decision.
  • Weak signal: general negativity, old experience, no request for help, or a problem your product cannot solve.

Qualify product fit before engaging

Check four separate questions: is there buying intent, how deep is the pain, is the person seeking advice, and does your product actually fit the stated use case? A high score on one dimension should not erase a poor fit on another.

Participate without spamming

Open the original thread, disclose relevant affiliation, answer the question first, and avoid repeated promotional links. MySocialAntenna uses a read-only workflow and does not post, draft replies, vote, message users, or require Reddit account access. The user remains responsible for checking the thread and community rules.

Limitations

Public posts provide incomplete context. Intent can change, irony can be misread, deleted content can disappear, and a relevant conversation may still be inappropriate for outreach. Treat automated ranking as prioritisation for human review, not proof that someone will buy.
